Apostrophe Police

“Freeze! This is a raid! Put down you're phone's and step away from you're laptops' … ”

Getting the details right matters for more than one reason.

To start with, you avoid ambiguity; the business of grammar isn't (just) to keep pedants busy, it also helps you be as accurate and clear as you can.

For example, you'd understand what a hotel was trying to say if it told you - youll have a great time hear and all are rooms face south so theirs' plenty sun all day - but you wouldn't necessarily rush to book there, would you?

Any potential client, customer, guest or supporter is entitled to wonder what kind of business pays so little attention to detail.

There's no contradiction between easy readability on the one hand and attention to detail on the other. Where those two elements overlap is where you'll find compelling and effective copy.
