Don't take that tone with me …
Some of our longest conversations and chewiest little chunks of thinking happen before we've even messed up the white screen with words.
In daily life, we adopt different tones of voice almost without thinking. Colleagues, customers, friends, children, employers, employees: we're more or less friendly, respectful, relaxed or intimate depending on whose ears we're bending.
But sometimes when we write we don't pause to think.
How much does the reader already know? Are they specialists or novices, enthusiasts or sceptics? And exactly how would you like them to think of you?
These questions are worth asking, because your words will say more about you than any amount of fancy typography, paper quality, photos or web design.

What people say
Our world of work is so full of jargon, acronyms and professional pomposity that we really do struggle to communicate simply and clearly to a wider audience. Jez is the perfect interpreter – he helps you understand what you are trying to say, and then helps you say it.
